Jeff and Lori asked:

We had renters whose cat peed in a corner for who knows how long. We pulled up the carpet and the odor is horrible. We want to go back to wood floors. What can we use to clean it without ruining the wood? This is the original wood floor from the 1950’s.
We are going to sand and polyeurathane the floors but I don’t know how deep the urine is so I want to make sure the odor is gone before we seal it.

Miss Marketing asked:

I’ve used Pledge and some other brands of wood cleaner. After a day or so my wood furniture always looks like there are slick spots. Some areas look dry and others look like there is a concentration of oil sitting on top. I always make sure to use two different cloths while polishing, one to apply the polish, one to buff the furniture clean. What am I doing wrong or should I use a better polish?

I bought the dresser 8 months ago, but the inside still has that strong wood smell. The smell sticks on my clothes, I have to spray a lot of perfume just to avoid smelling like I spent the whole week chopping woods.

I just had my hard wood red oak floor refinished. It looks beautiful. The refinisher told never to use water on them to clean them. What do you recommend I clean them with? Also I live in the southwest, where it is very dry, how often do I polish or condition them and what do you recommend? THANKS in advance!

Rubette73 asked:

I have a finished wood dining table. It is a light color wood and I think it is maple. The thing is that with three kids (and no table cloth because it got torn a while back and was never replaced) I do have some sticky spots on the table. My family does use place mats at every meal and we do wipe up spills quickly. But these sticky spots are more towards the center of the table. I’ve tried wiping them down with a wet cloth to no avail and I don’t want the wood to warp. Any ideas?

I am just so scared to ruin the floors. I have the murphy oil stuff and it works great just dont know how to use it without hurting the floors if i dont dry it right after putting it on!
