Well, Prince Charles was in Corrie a few years back, so it wouldn’t be a total shock to see old Liz.

This is classic British comedy! Victoria Wood at her best, sending up a British institution! Corrie will be 50 soon! Will HM The Queen appear in it?

That’s miles better than the depressing sh17e known as the real Coronation Street, or any other soap for that matter.

Ive clinkers to riddle and pots to side…..
(for our non Northern readers, ‘I have some household chores to attend to’.)

for lickyhills1:

‘their’ peter and ‘their’ susan.
as in ‘of their family’.
in the north of england it’s normal (or was) to refer to family members using a possesive pronoun (often plural) …
“our billy’ll be home soon”
“what’s your david up to now?”
“where’s me (MY) dad?”

Happen I did like it and happen I didn’t but I’ll tell you one thing Victoria Wood what’s to do?

jrcornwall on 28 November, 2007 at 5:28 am #

Peter and Susan were Ken and Valerie’s twins. After Valarie’s demise - actually through being electrocuted by her own hair dryer - Ken sent them to Scotland. They did surface again, 20 years later, no trace of a Scottish accent!!

“By the thump Minnie Caldwell, you take the barmcake you do!”. You’re right - they’ve got Ena, Minnie and Martha to a tee! V. funny!

barringtonbank on 2 December, 2007 at 1:03 pm #

This comment is for lyntonbass. Of course its Victoria Wood, I was only joking. Victoria Wood plays Ena Sharples to a tee. It was just a figure of speech.

lyntonbass on 3 December, 2007 at 12:48 am #

Of course it’s Victoria Wodd and Jule Walters in a skit from Victoria Wood’s show

barringtonbank on 3 December, 2007 at 2:51 pm #

That is not Victoria Wood, that is Ena Sharples. Great video by the way.

avuncular300 on 6 December, 2007 at 4:07 pm #

This was a very respectful tribute to three Old Dears that kept us entertained in the 60s and 70s with unconscious and uncontrived humour. Along with Les Dawson, Harry Worth and others of that gently ilk, we shall never see their like again. God bless them all !

PJGProductons on 6 December, 2007 at 7:34 pm #

Julie Walters was Martha. Victoria was Ena Sharples and Lil roughly was Minnie Caldwell. The original acors where Lynne Carol as Martha, Violet Carsen as Ena and Margot Bryant as Minnie

dramaticguy on 9 December, 2007 at 6:07 am #

Martha Longhurst was before my time, but when I saw some early Corrie on Granada Plus,Victoria Wood had it to a tea!

jnb432 on 12 December, 2007 at 3:17 am #

Did you actually know that The Beatles once in the 60’s planned to appear on Coronation Street but they never appeared
Great Video!
