How can you creatively cover wood paneling on the walls of a rental home?

We just moved into a rental home and every wall is wood paneling! The land lord has said that we can make any improvements we want, but I don’t want to invest too much money in something I can’t take with me when I leave in a few years. Any ideas (maybe with fabric) of how to disguise ugle wood paneling?
