I have a semi-aquatic turtle that needs basking land. We put in drift wood pretty recently, but the wood already has fuzzy, white mold on it. I doubt this is safe for my turtle. I wonder: is there any way to keep this from happening? If not, how often should I change the wood?

Good luck on that one! I ended up changing my real wood to the fake stuff you can buy from petsmart. Looks just a nice & does not grow things =-)
If you don’t want fake , You could just take the wood out & wash it real good with hot water about once a week.
